January
For those who do not feel like they can commit to the volunteer program we have set up through HELP International, we are also taking expedition groups. This means that when any of those involved in the administration of the Guatemala Children’s Project are heading down to Guatemala, they are willing to let others join in the effort. The next scheduled trip will be headed by President Kevin and Vice President Jesse Callahan in January. If you are interested in making a shorter trip down to help with a project at this same time, please contact us as soon as you can.

Mas Ninos
This summer the orphanage has had the chance to welcome more children. There are now infants in the able hands of Martita and Guillermo along with two new staff members as well! Thanks to the generous support of donors the Guatemala Children’s Project has been able to hire another caretaker and a teacher for the children. These are wonderful and much needed additions to the orphanage. Happy to report that all is well down in Guatemala! Things just keep getting better!

Casa Improvement
A trio of craftsman, Kevin, Jesse and Chris have come to the orphanage with their own mission: Casa Improvement. They have taken on the task of building cabinets for the kitchen and closets for the rooms. They have been working feverishly to make over 20 of these closets, it has been an amazing site, it is unreal to watch their efficiency. They are passionate about improving the living conditions here at the orphanage and are already planning future trips to the orphanage to continue their personal mission of: Casa Improvement. Their contribution is substantial and very much appreciated.
At the same time the orphanage is undergoing more improvements, a fresh coat of paint with a more vibrant color is covering the walls of the orphanage as I type. There is so much to do, so much that is being done, so much love being shown. It is truly heartwarming to see, and the children are so excited about the improvements.

A Different Kind of Orphanage
“The family is the fundamental unit of society and no institution can replace the parents’ duty to teach children to be honest and honorable citizens. This is why reuniting the children with their parents is the number one priority of the orphanage.”
-Guillermo Rangel, CF, Founder and Executive Director
Most “orphans” in Guatemala actually have at least one living parent or capable family member. Casa Familia Unida is a unique Guatemalan orphanage because it’s objective is to reunite these family members with the children as well as meet their needs with love and kindness. Please take a moment to read “Our Story” so you can learn more about the incredible process and the wonderful goals and successes of this program!
